Well, it's Sunday. The guests have gone. The music is fading. I am very content with the warm memories of good company and bacon. What started several weeks ago in a mason jar, has culminated in a delicious and memorable Sunday morning/afternoon. Without question, Casey's guitar and the the company of good friends always make for a good time. Bacon infused our day and our vodka as well. The BLT Mary is a success! Here's How to do it:
To a quart of your favorite vodka, add 6 strips of cooked bacon. Let it steep for a few weeks. (I plan to keep a quart going at all times!)
Fill a shaker with ice. Crack fresh black pepper over the ice, then crack some more pepper. Splash worchesterhsire and a dash of celery salt. Squeeze 1/4 wedge of fresh lemon, then pour a couple jiggers of the bacon infused vodka. Cover with your favorite tomato juice and shake well. Pour into a frosted glass. Grind one more turn of black pepper and sprinkle with celery salt over the top. Serve with a sprig of freshly cooked bacon and crisp romaine lettuce leaf for garnish.
I recommend a live rendition of Your Cold, Cold Heart- Hank Williams, while you enjoy it. (thanks Casey)
Whew! Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato... I've had two already, but I could stand one more bacon bloody mary!
Cheers!
